Food is a necessity that each human needs in order to survive. Each type of culinary cooking is different for each country. Namibian cuisine has been influenced by the Germans and the surrounding African nations.

For Namibians, the staple food on the table is corn and porridge along with meat and fish. Even if the staple food is ordinary, Namibian cuisine is known for its exotic dishes and heavy plates filled with tons of pasta, potatoes and vegetables. Since the country is famous for its meat, Namibian cuisine is true to its own produce. There are varied meals that include the meat in the menu. Lamb, chicken, pork and beef are the favorite meats consumed by the people. Fish is also popular on the dinner table since Namibia is one of the leading exporters of fish in the South African nations.

Being influenced by Germans during their colonization, Namibian cuisine has taken to the adding of spices in the meals. For Namibians, it is essential to use spices but it is vital that it is used in the right amount; no more no less. Presentation is also important when serving the dish. The appeal of the dish always starts with the sense of sight and smell. The presentation of the meals is supposed to be colorful and appealing, that way, the person enjoys the meal in all of its aspects.
