The country of Malta may not be considered a powerhouse in Europe or in the world, but when it comes to services, the people of Malta can say that they are not behind the countries with an exceptional economic performance.

The people of Malta has only one airport as it only needs one to save space due to limited land area. Maltese and tourists alike use the facilities of Malta International Airport going in and out of the country.

The roadways in Malta, at least, the major ones are quite decent. Pot holes and uneven curbs do exist here and there but overall it should be satisfactory. Malta’s road network has a total of 2,227 km stretch where 2,014 km is paved. To go anywhere in Malta, the bus transport system is the most economical one and follows a strict timetable or else they lose their operating licenses. One word of caution though, a lot of bus drivers are without road morals and so extra alertness is needed when driving beside these monster vehicles.

With regards to communication, Malta can be considered adequately wired. The combined fixed line and cellular telephone connection has a ratio of 150 telephones per 100 persons. Fixed line telephones in actual use numbers to 241,000 while mobile phones have reached 385,000 subscribers. All in all, the citizens of Malta get information from 1 AM and 18 FM radio stations, and 6 television broadcast stations. On the digital side, 198,800 Maltese households or individuals have access to the internet.

Other basic services like education and healthcare are provided by the government to all Maltese citizens.
