The Weather and Climate in Barbados

You are here: Countries / Barbados

Bridgetown, SourceBarbados wouldn’t be called a tropical island paradise if it doesn’t have a perfect weather to complement its pristine shores. Generally, for most of the year, this Caribbean Island would have warm and sunny weather so anytime of the year tourists can come and go as they please. Throughout the year, an average temperature of 23˚C to 29˚C can be observed. This is one of the reasons why Caribbean beaches are attracting millions of tourists every year because the heat is just enough to tan the skin but not hot enough to damage the skin. In fact, 29˚C is cool in comparison with other tropical countries like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, however, what gives Barbados that hot summer feeling is its relative humidity which are usually observed at the 75% to 84% range. From January to April, the atmosphere in the country is relatively cool as these are the coldest months. Sweat will form like beads from July to September and so people are more likely to hit the beaches during these times. At the hottest and sunniest times, the heat is bearable because the island has a natural cooling mechanism as it lies on the path of prevailing northeast trade winds. In the history of the country, 30˚C has been recorded as the highest reading of the temperature. Rain also does exist in Barbados but they usually appear in the form of quick showers.

Indeed, developing its tourism industry was the best thing Barbados did. With a perfect tropical weather, beautiful beaches and warm and friendly people, there is no other formula for a sizzling and wonderful vacation.
