The Albanian gastronomy is influenced by that of the countries that surrounds it, and it is primarily Mediterranean. Many of its dishes are the typical Balkandishes , but soma are local specialties. A normal meal is served accompanied of a salad flavored with oil and vinegar.

Some of its typical dishes are roasted lamb with yogurt, cabbage and potato soup, fried meatballs (Qofte të fërguara), and vegetable pie.

The consumption of alcoholic beverages is high in Albania. Mostly they are produced in their own locality and many by private citizens. Typical beverages are wine, beer (locally made Birra Tirana, Albanian brandy and Raki (a type of liquor)
