Canada’s University of Manitoba, located in the Province of the same name, has, for more than 135 years, delivered life-changing learning experiences for its students, has conducted world-class research and shared their knowledge and discovery to shape the province, the country of Canada and the world as a whole.

The University of Manitoba is located on Treaty One territory, on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe peoples and the homeland of the Metis Nation. The University and the Forks of the City of Winnipeg sit at the crossroads of the Anishinaabe, Metis, Cree, Dakota and Oji-Cree Nations.

The students, faculty, staff and alumni of U of M have thrived for over a century at this unique educational hub, situated at the center of the continent. Rather than bending to the forces of circumstance, the school defies them, innovate around them and embrace them as part of who they are.

The University of Manitoba thrives on diversity and hosts students from every corner of the earth. To help ensure international students will have a smooth transition to the school, province and country, the university staffs its International Center for Students. The International Center for Students (ICS) provides support for ALL University of Manitoba students. The center offers programs and services to help international students before and after their arrival to ease their transition to Canada and ensure their experience is enjoyable, safe, and successful.

The ICS office also provides programs and resources for internationally-minded students looking for opportunities both inside and outside of Canada. Their Exchange Programs make studying abroad affordable and accessible, and the university’s World W.I.S.E. Resource Centre can help students plan for work, study, or travel throughout the world.

Through the ICS office, all University of Manitoba students have the opportunity to internationalize their education and gain cross-cultural experiences without leaving Winnipeg. Their office also serves the larger university community by providing support and assistance to staff and faculty.
