The Escuela Superior de Comunicación, Imagen y Sonido (CEV), or the School of Communication, Image and Sound, is a private school, located in Madrid, which was initially created by a private initiative of various audiovisual professionals.  This feature gave the CEV school complete autonomy over its organization and curriculum, and enabled it to establish agreements with companies and institutions with complete academic freedom.

This academic project that later morphed into the Escuela Superior de Comunicación, Imagen y Sonido was born in 1975 as the Center for Teaching Image (CIS), a center devoted to professional Photography and Film instruction. With the passage of time and advances in technology, the institution evolved and expanded its scope to cover all specialties currently offered at the CEV School of Communication, Image and Sound.

From the beginning, the Escuela Superior de Comunicación, Imagen y Sonido adopted a very definitive goal: to adapt the curricula to meet the real needs of each student according to the norms of professionals within the audiovisual sector. To accomplish this, CEV employs a systematical system of training, one that includes small group instruction and practical programs without academic ties. The faculty of the school is composed of practicing professionals and professional teams who work together to ensure students receive a relevant and high-level education in the audiovisual field. The success enjoyed by the institution as a result of this formula has made the CEV academy a model of excellence in the industry that has endured for over 30 years.

Although the Escuela Superior de Comunicación, Imagen y Sonido has had a number of renowned teachers over its history, it’s clear that the main reason for its success has been its unique and inviting teaching methodology, showing that the quality of education is far more important than the popularity the professionals that may impart it.

Not surprisingly, CEV is considered one of the most professional and prominent private audiovisual schools in Spain, quite possibly having contributed the most to that field during the course of its history.  Graduates of the academy go on to work in a number of different career fields, including

  • Photography
  • Designing
  • Sound Technology
  • Producing
  • Communications
  • Sound and Visual Engineering
  • And more...

Nearly every specialty within the fields of image, sound and communications is covered by the Escuela Superior de Comunicación, Imagen y Sonido, taught by professionals with many years of private industry experience under their belts.
