Thailand is in the heart of Southeast Asia, bordered by the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia to the south and the Andaman Sea to the west. It is often referred to as the “golden land” mainly because of its fertile rice fields in the central plains that make it as a leading rice exporter in the world, and its white sandy beaches, rich cultural heritage and natural attractions, and warm hospitality of its citizens.

If you are in Thailand, you may not wish to miss the world-famous River Kwai and the bridge over it in Kanchanaburi province in the western portion of the country 128 kilometers from Bangkok. It was on this river that the bridge was assembled and thousands of war prisoners and workers died during its construction. Other locations, aside from Bangkok, which are worth visiting include Chiang Mai, the 2nd biggest province north of the country, that contains unique elements of Thai culture and the center of language and culinary arts; Samut Songkhram in central Thailand, which highlights the King Rama II Memorial Park and the Amphawa Floating Market; Khao Sok National Park, a 10-hour bus ride from the capital, which is home to Rafflesia Kerrii flower, as well as snakes, tigers and monkeys; Ayutthaya old capital city with old markets and indigenous lifestyles along the canals; and Phuket Island in the Andaman Sea, which is Thailand’s biggest island and one of world’s best seaside resorts.
