Visa application requirements for Kazakhstan

To enter Kazakhstan, all foreign nationals are required to possess a business or tourist visa which is obtained at the diplomatic or consular office of their countries of residence. Upon arrival in the country, the traveler can apply for a visa at the consular posts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the airports of Astana, Almaty, Atyrau, Uralsk, and Ust-Kamenogorsk. The requirements for obtaining a visa include a copy of the first two pages of the passport which must have a remaining six-month validity, or international travel document, copy of visa support such as a letter of invitation, a completed or accomplished visa application form, a passport-size photograph, and onward ticket or confirmed reservation.

The types of Kazakhstan visa that are issued to applicants are the diplomatic visa, which is issued to holders of diplomatic passport; official visa, for personnel of foreign diplomatic representations and international organizations; investor’s visa, for managers and representatives of managerial group of foreign companies; business visa, for foreign citizens entering the country for business purposes; tourist visa, which is issued upon approval by an authorized local travel agency. A transit visa is also issued to a traveler who has a valid visa to enter a country of destination and relevant travel documents. The government has listed certain countries whose citizens are not required of a visa to visit the country for business and travel purposes. These countries are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Byelorussia, Georgia, Kyrgystan, Moldova, Mongolia, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
