Jordan has a distinctive charm and style when it comes to preparing food, cooking, eating, and dining. Jordanian cuisine embodies many of the qualities and traits of Middle Eastern cooking where ingredients such as freshly made local yogurt and cheese never fail to add a twist to every food served. The staple foods are: chickpeas, Aubergines, beans, lentils, and other dishes that have rice and flat Arabic bread known as khoubs. If you are tourist and you want to include food tripping in your itinerary, you will enjoy delectable mixture of European and Arabic dishes.

It is always a fun dining experience to have alcohol during and after meals, but as expected in any Middle Eastern country, Jordan bars and restaurants don't allow alcohol to be served during Ramadan. For non-Muslims, alcohol can be taken in hotels.

Some of the national specialties of Jordan are: meze, mensaf, makloubat, kibbi, and baklava. Each selection is composed of certain meals say for instance the meze selection which includes fool which is described as a thick stew made with fava beans.

As for national drinks, the Arabic coffee makes all the difference. Served in small cups, Arabic coffee is strong and Jordanians consider drinking it is a customary tradition. Wine is also prevalent in Jordan and this is because Jordan has a long tradition of wine production. Finally, the Araq, the local liquor typically served mixed with water and ice.
