Cooking in Jamaica contains flavors, spices and techniques. It has its own typical and very unique qualities. Jamaican cuisine is a mixture of African, American, British, Chinese and Indian cuisines. Nowadays, dishes which are clearly distinguished as Jamaican menu include ackee and salt fish (the national dish of Jamaica), curry goat, fried dumplings, fried plantain, "jerk" and steamed cabbage.

Some famous soup in Jamaica are Beef Soup, Cream Of Pumpkin Soup, Fish Tea/Soup, Manish Water, Pepperpot Soup and Red Peas Soup. The main course is typically fish or chicken, although beef, goat meat and pork are also common. Escovitch fish is a common dish which boiled in coconut milk and served with onions and peppers. Rice and peas (rice stewed with coconut milk and beans) is commonly accompanied by the main course. Other popular dishes in the country are Callaloo and Saltfish, Coconut Rundown, Corned Beef and Cabbage, Jamaican spiced bun, Okra and saltfish stew, Oxtail and Stewed Peas.

Jamaicans like local tropical fruits as snacks and desserts. The popular desserts in the country are Mango and sour sop ice Cream. Ice cream in Jamaica is usually prepared with coconut milk, instead of cream or milk. The well-liked ice cream flavors of Jamaican are grape nut and rum & raisin. Other desserts include banana fritters, coconut drops, dookoonu, gizzada, toto, plantain tart and potato pudding.

The country offers several beverages like carrot juice, cherry drink, ginger beer, mango lada, mango smoothie and sour sop drink. But the most popular drink in the island is tea.
