The Weather and Climate in Iceland

The country has moderately mild coastal weather. In Reykjavik which is the capital of Iceland, the average summer temperature in July is 10.6°C but can reach as high as 25°C at night. The average temperature in January is around 0°C. In spite of its tremendous situation in North Atlantic, climate in Reykjavik is not as cold as anticipated because of the passing temperate waters of the Gulf Stream that normalized the weather. Reykjavik is also an extremely rainy city and out the year it obtains 213 rainy days. The air is hygienic and free of contamination.

Iceland’s wettest part is in the south although snow is rare. The coastal regions have a tendency to experience winter storms but thunderstorms are very rare.
