The Weather and Climate in Haiti

You are here: Countries / Haiti

Haiti has a typical Caribbean tropical climate. If tourists want to enjoy Haiti to the fullest, then they should visit the country from the months of November to March. November to March is the best time to visit because that is when temperatures hit an average of 23°C up to 32°C during the daytime and 15°C to 27°C during the evenings. 23°C up to 32°C is just perfect for cavorting in the beaches even in a swimsuit because it sure would not toast the skin while 15°C to 27°C is perfect for dinner dates and parties.

Come May to July, the climate shifts to the rainy season. However, the rainy season in Haiti is one of the best as it has been observed that rains usually just last for an hour or two and are usually just in the evening. In the capital, Port-au-Prince, precipitation averages about 1,366 mm of rainfall while other parts, averages about 508 mm only.

The worst time to visit Haiti is from July to October because that is when hurricanes frequent the nation.

The highlands in Haiti are always cold no matter what time of the year and so a bit of thicker clothes are needed when one wants to go hiking or trailblazing.

However, there may be some changes in the coming years to the overall temperature in the area as the people have laid bare the forests for timber and profits. If the people don’t reforest, they may experience hotter climates as moisture retention in the air may become low.
